Kiwanis Park

Gateway Project

Kiwanis Park is among the most heavily used parks in the City of Missoula. Numerous organizations, schools, and residents depend on this park and the gateway area. The park is a significant corridor because of its proximity to the University of Montana, off-campus housing, the river trail system, and downtown.

The Front Street Gateway to Kiwanis Park is dilapidated. Crumbling sidewalks impede ADA access, and overgrown vegetation is an eyesore. The Gateway lacks lighting to improve safety and visibility, and the shrubs and trees are overgrown. FMP is assisting the Kiwanis Club of Missoula to fund this project now! The Kiwanis Park Gateway project aims to improve the entryway and flow by constructing a wide path that meets ADA access criteria. With path construction, lighting can be installed and vegetation enhanced to make the Gateway accessible, safe, and more attractive.

Already part of the master plan for downtown parks, the Kiwanis Gateway project has a completed landscape design and is entering the engineering phase for final construction documents. These will make the project “shovel ready” and allow the city to perform these renovations rapidly.
